Believe it or not, blog commenting can turn into the most efficient SEO technique to gain both nofollow and dofollow backlinks all over the web.
In fact, each time we comment on a friend’s blog and add our blog URL to the ‘Website’ field, an automatic backlink is created with our name/keyword as an anchor text. Now, as you may know already, this backlink generated by most blog platform is a NOFOLLOW link, because developers’ main concern has always been that of reducing blog spamming. Well, you shouldn’t worry too much about it. A nofollow backlink is STILL a backlink for most search engines – especially Yahoo! – and Google itself is not blind to it as well; in fact, Google does index nofollow pages, but it doesn’t pass pagerank to them. That’s all. Focus on getting as many backlinks – dofollow AND nofollow – to improve your website ranking, and do that by commenting on blogs that you’re interested in. One suggestion though: DO NOT SPAM!!! Always keep your comments entry-related, and by no means spammy! That would bring you no good, but only a ban from search engines and blog owners. So, use the tool at your own discretion, but always respecting others’ work first. Benefit will be reciprocal, and they could come to your blog more often and read comments, improving your Alexa rankings with their daily visits.
But that’s another story.
